Lynn Fisher examines contracts, tenure decisions and regulation found in real estate markets. In particular, she explores the regulatory behavior of local governments making permit decisions, and the impact of tenure decisions on labor market outcomes.
She has published articles in the Journal of Urban Economics, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and Urban Studies.
Dr. Fisher is an associate professor of real estate in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning and the Center for Real Estate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also holds the Ford Development Chair and is director of the MIT/CRE Housing Affordability Initiative, where she has worked to inform debates about regional housing policy in New England.
She has worked closely with a variety of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), developers, non-profit organizations, and state and local governments in the context of her research.
At UNC Kenan-Flagler she teaches courses about real estate development and its processes.
She received her PhD in business administration from the Smeal College of Business at the Pennsylvania State University, where she concentrated in real estate finance and microeconomics. She also has an MS in business administration and a BA in international politics, from Penn State.
