The research interests of Chotibhak (Pab) Jotikasthira include empirical asset pricing, fixed-income investments, financial markets and international finance.

Professor Jotikasthira received the BGI Award for Best Paper by a PhD Candidate from the European Finance Association in 2007. He was nominated for the best PhD instructor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he taught before joining UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Before he began his academic career, he worked a senior strategist and portfolio manager for the Bank of Thailand’s reserve management division. He managed $38 billion in foreign-exchange reserves invested in global fixed-income markets and developed quantitative models for formulating investment strategies. He also worked as a senior analyst in the bank’s financial risk management division. He managed market, credit, and liquidity risks associated with investment of foreign-exchange reserves and implementation of monetary and exchange-rate policies.

Professor Jotikasthira also served as a credit officer in project financing for the Industrial Finance Corporation of Thailand. He conducted financial feasibility studies and arranged financing for businesses in service industries. He provided extensive advisory services for Thailand’s national transportation projects, including its $4 billion subway line and $400 million Don Muang toll-road.

He received his PhD in finance from Indiana University, his MBA from Duke University and his BS with first-class honors in industrial engineering from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
