Lynne Gerber directs the UNC Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), which develops projects, courses and programs that enable students and faculty to excel in international business.
Dr. Gerber developed the Working Languages series and the Global Business Project (GBP) for UNC Kenan-Flagler and oversees those course offerings at UNC Kenan-Flagler and other participating schools. She is the lead professor for the GBP at UNC Kenan-Flagler and chair of the Global Business Project CIBER consortium. She also is a faculty supervisor for the STAR (Student Teams Achieving Results) Program, which is part of the Leadership Initiative at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
Dr. Gerber is co-author of the Working Language series (Georgetown University Press), which are beginning language courses that combine technologically based, self-directed learning with face-to-face teaching and immersion in foreign countries to prepare managers to function effectively in the everyday workplace using the target language. She is a certified trainer of the Intercultural Edge, a cross-cultural tool to help business people communicate and negotiate effectively across cultures.
Before joining CIBER in 2002, Dr. Gerber ran two 501(c)(3) corporations: the MBA Enterprise Corps and the North Carolina Global Center (NCGC). The MBA Enterprise Corps, essentially a Peace Corps for business graduates, placed MBAs from UNC Kenan-Flagler and 39 other U.S. business programs with companies in the former Soviet Union that desired assistance in developing profitable businesses in a market economy. The NCGC developed programs–often involving language and cross-cultural training–for N.C. businesses and business schools that strengthen global business skills.
She received her EdD in training and development from North Carolina State University, her MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and her BS in biology from Goucher College. |
