Biography

Edward Van Wesep has researched executive compensation and severance agreements. His current research includes the use of the signing bonus as well as the interaction of executive overconfidence and behavioral deviations from traditional economic theory with optimal pay structures.

 

Dr. Van Wesep teaches courses in microeconomics, game theory, modern firm theory and finance.

 

He co-founded a Web-based financial services start-up based in Redwood City, Calif. The firm, which was incorporated and received angel funding in March 2007, assists lenders and homeowners seeking financing for solar installations.

 

He worked as a business analyst at Capital One Financial and an associate at McKinsey & Co. in Chicago.

 

Dr. Van Wesep received his PhD in economics from Stanford University and a BS in applied mathematics-economics from Brown University, graduating magna cum laude and Sigma Xi with departmental honors.
