Jack Evans is the Phillip Hettleman Professor of operations, technology and innovation management. He also is executive director of Carolina North, coordinating the planning of this new research campus for UNC-Chapel Hill.
His teaching and research have involved using analytical approaches to solve business decision problems and applying process improvement principles in product and service contexts.
A former dean of UNC Kenan-Flagler, he served as president of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and chaired a two-year project to redesign its accreditation process for business schools. Dr. Evans has been an active contributor to efforts to increase the emphasis on quality in higher education.
Dr. Evans served as examiner and senior examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from 1989-93, and as judge from 1993-96. He served on the Board of Overseers for the Baldrige Award from 2001-03 and as chair for the last two years of that term.
Dr. Evans is the faculty athletics representative to the NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference for UNC-Chapel Hill. He served as president of the ACC from 1998-99 and again from 2006-07. He now serves on the NCAA Committee on Academic Performance and the NCAA Basketball Academic Enhancement Group, and served on the NCAA Management Council from 2001-07
He received his PhD, MS and BME from Cornell University. |
