Biography

Courtney Edwards specializes in employee stock options and taxes as well as taxes and business strategy.

 

Dr. Edwards was a tax manager in Arthur Andersen’s Atlanta office, where she worked for five years. She also worked for SunTrust Banks, Inc.

 

She teaches courses on individual taxation, business taxation, international taxation, taxes and business strategy, and has taught courses in partnership and S corporation taxation.

 

She co-authored a study with UNC Kenan-Flagler professors Mark H. Lang, Edward Maydew and Douglas A. Shackelford on “Germany’s Repeal of the Corporate Capital Gains Tax: The Equity Market Response” in the Journal of American Taxation Association, and on “Employee Stock Options and Taxes,” with John Graham, Mark H. Lang, and Dr. Shackelford, in the Journal of Investment Management.

 

Dr. Edwards received her PhD from UNC Kenan-Flagler and her master’s degree in accounting and BS in commerce from the University of Virginia.
