Accounting professor Ed Blocher works in the areas of cost management and auditing.
His research has addressed strategic cost management in manufacturing and the packaging industries, as well as activity-based costing in the chemical industry . He is co-author of the leading text, "Cost Management: A Strategic Emphasis" (3rd edition) as well as "Cases and Readings in Cost Management" (3rd edition) with McGraw Hill. He has frequently presented on this topic at academic and professional meetings including the national meetings of both the Institute of Management Accounting and the American Accounting Association.
Dr. Blocher also has written extensively on the use of analytical procedures in auditing, including its role in detecting management fraud. He served on the American Institute of CPA (AICPA) task force on analytical procedures and was co-author of the AICPA's recent Auditing Practice Release on Analytical Procedures. His research in these two areas appears in the leading academic and professional journals.
He received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, his MBA from Tulane University and his BA from Rice University. |
