Biography

Leadership is the focus of research, teaching and consulting for management professor Gerald Bell, who has taught at UNC Kenan-Flagler for over 30 years.

Dr. Bell is a leading consultant to major business organizations throughout the world. His clients have included GlaxoSmithKline, Coca-Cola, Phillips Publishing, Banc One, Pfizer, Inc., Trammell Crow Company, Urban Land Institute, Disney, American Banker's Association, Progress Energy and the Young Presidents' Organization.

In addition to teaching and consulting, Dr. Bell has conducted advanced leadership training sessions for over 500,000 professionals from more than 80 countries.

Dr. Bell and former UNC basketball coach Dean Smith wrote the book, "The Carolina Way: Leadership Lessons from a Life in Coaching" with sports writer John Kilgo. Dr. Bell also is the author of the widely read "The Achievers." He is working on a new book, "Selecting Achievers: Finding the Right Person for the Right Job at the Right Time."

He received his PhD and MA from Yale University and an MA and BS from the University of Colorado.
