Reunion Weekend 2003 - A Big Success
The 2003 UNC Kenan-Flagler Reunion Weekend was held November 6-8 with approximately 400 people attending the festivities.
Thursday night, the student-run Alumni Affairs Board hosted a happy hour at The Carolina Brewery, which was a big hit with the alumni, faculty, and students.
On Friday afternoon, guided tours of Kenan Stadium were offered, including the new training facilities, and student-guided tours of the McColl Building.
5th Annual Alumni Awards Dinner
That evening, the 5th Annual Alumni Awards Dinner was held in the Kenan Center Dining Room. Over 160 people had a delicious meal, anchored by bacon and horseradish crusted beef tenderloin, and were able to congratulate this year's award winners:
- Edwina Woodbury (BSBA 1973 - BSBA Alumni Merit Award)
- Kim Ellis (BSBA 1983 - MAC Alumni Merit Award)
- Chris Speh (EMBA 1991 - EMBA Alumni Merit Award)
- Smedes York (MBA 1968 - MBA Alumni Merit Award)
- David Jernigan (BSBA 2000 - Outstanding Young Alumni Award)
- Alston Gardner (AB 1977 - Global Leadership Award)
- Rollie Tillman (BSBA 1955 - Kenan-Flagler Business School Leadership Award)
Saturday Activities
Saturday morning's program included opening remarks by Dean Steve Jones, a state of the economy presentation by Jim Smith, a people/career fit presentation by Dan Cable, and an MBA student panel moderated by Rollie Tillman.
Over 230 people attended the brunch that followed in the Kenan Center, where Dean Valarie Zeithaml celebrated the 50th year of the MBA program by toasting those alumni in attendance and cutting a birthday cake.

The remainder of the day was spent cheering on the Tar Heels against Wake Forest for the team's second and final victory of the football season, and rooting for the Heels against NC Central in an exhibition basketball game (which the Heels also won) featuring Roy Williams's first game as the new Carolina coach.
All in all, it was an exciting weekend of reunited friendships and rekindled memories. We are looking forward to next fall's Alumni Reunion Weekend, where we hope to see many more alumni in attendance for another wonderful experience in Chapel Hill.
